Tendencies in Tandem:
Cooperation & Competition

Two crucial tendencies operate best in tandem. Though there may be tension between competition and cooperation, each can temper the other. True stories will indicate how these tendencies may be learned and expressed in school, home, and work. Volunteers will participate in an exercise which illustrates judicious coordination of competition and cooperation. From this practical foundation, hints for negotiation situations will be developed and discussed. Stress may be reduced and productivity may be increased by wise balancing of competition and cooperation. This requires judgment and skill in deciding when to do which, and even the vision and capacity to do both at once.
